Holika Holika Aqua Petit Jelly BB Cream

BB creams are something that have always intrigued me since I had first heard about them years and years ago…6 years maybe?  I’ve tried many from all the usual drugstore brands.  For my oily skin, while I liked the added SPF protection and more natural coverage, my face was melting off as soon as it got too hot outside. Not only were most BB’s visibly melting, but they would start feeling heavy and slimey on my skin…

Soon into getting my feet wet in Korean and Asian beauty products, Holika Holika Aqua Petit Jelly BB Cream immediately caught my eye.  Not only does it have adorable packaging, but the lightweight “jelly” like texture seemed like it would work wonders on my skin, especially with how well gel and jelly moisturizers have worked for me.

 Jackpot. I. Love. This. Stuff.

The water-based, light airy whipped texture glides on easily and blends out perfectly.  It provides a surprising amount of coverage, especially for a BB cream, but feels and looks so  natural on your skin.  I don’t even need to set it with a powder if I don’t want to- unless its crazy humid or something out, then I probably would. It dries down fairly quickly to a matte/natural finish. I would not say it is very buildable, but one layer is all I would want for an everyday wear.  And for me it does last all day! Unlike most BB creams.  I would really compare this more to a foundation, except it has a much lighter feel on your skin to most foundations that provide this amount of coverage.

The product itself does contain a few botanical extracts, like aloe and peppermint, along with the lightweight moisturizers hyaluronic acid and glycerin.

I’ve applied this with both a sponge blender (not the one that is included in the box, I threw that out) and a foundation brush- both work great.  The one issue, and it’s a common issue on Asian beauty products, it the limited range of colors.  I believe it only comes in 2 colors-yikes! Fortunately for me- I’m super pale and hate the sun so it’s no issue for me, but would definitely would be for those with a darker complexion or anyone laying out in the sun tanning everyday- seriously, knock that ‘ish out, it’s bad for your skin!

Another great thing- the price.  You really can’t beat it.
